Description
Studies in the Entrepreneurship degree programme provide comprehensive preparation for running one’s own business or working in a business environment. The programme combines knowledge of law, economics, and management with the development of practical digital, analytical, and interpersonal competences.
Education is practical in nature and covers the entire life cycle of an enterprise – from the moment of its establishment, through its day-to-day operation and the entrepreneur’s liability, to its development, transformation, or termination of activity. As a result, you will learn the mechanisms of business operation in real market conditions and learn to make informed, rational decisions.
During your studies, you will:
- gain the knowledge needed to set up and run your own company,
- learn the basics of economic, tax, and labour law,
- learn how to plan and manage business activities,
- develop digital and analytical competencies useful in business,
- work on projects and examples based on real market situations.
Classes are held from Monday to Thursday, giving you the space to gain professional experience, participate in internships, get involved in student research groups, or take up employment while still studying.
The programme prepares you both for starting your own business and for working in enterprises, institutions, and organisations supporting economic development and entrepreneurship.
Possible development paths after graduation
Graduates can continue their education in second-cycle studies offered by the Faculty of Law and Administration, developing competencies in the fields of:
- law and legal services for business activities,
- management and operation of enterprises,
- the economy and public institutions supporting business development,
- specialist issues related to the market and economic regulations.

Selected Courses in the Entrepreneurship Degree Programme:
- Microeconomics – you will learn to evaluate economic phenomena in a company. You will understand how they influence the entrepreneur’s decisions.
- Starting a Business – you will learn the principles of setting up a company. You will find out what steps need to be taken and what to look out for.
- Fundamentals of Investing in Domestic and Foreign Markets – you will learn the principles of investing in Poland and abroad.
- E-entrepreneurship – you will learn how to run a business on the Internet. You will learn the basic tools of online sales.
- Principles of Taxation of Business Activities – you will learn the forms of corporate taxation in Poland.

Major
You do not choose a major in the Entrepreneurship degree programme.
Graduation requirements
To take the diploma exam, you must:
- achieve all the learning outcomes specified in the curriculum,
- confirm the required knowledge of a foreign language,
- obtain a positive grade for the diploma thesis.
You complete your studies when you pass the diploma examination with at least a satisfactory result. Upon graduation, you will receive a higher education diploma, which confirms your qualifications.

Admission
Admission to studies at the University of Silesia is conducted via the IRK system: irk.us.edu.pl.
In the IRK system, you will enrol for studies and check all necessary information. You will find out what the admission process looks like, what the deadlines are, how much the application fee is and what documents you need to submit.

Admission requirements
Entrepreneurship – full-time first-cycle studies
Admission to the degree programme is based on the results of the Matura exam. We consider the results of the written exam in any three subjects in which you achieved your highest scores.
Importantly – the result of the basic level exam is multiplied by a factor of 0.5, while the extended level exam is multiplied by a factor of 1.

Point thresholds
In accordance with the admission criteria, no programme at the University of Silesia has got a predetermined point threshold.
Committees create ranking lists during the admission process. Admission thresholds change every year because they depend on the number of candidates, their Matura exam results and the applicable admission rules.
Additional criteria
You do not need to meet any additional criteria to begin studies in this degree programme.
Internships and work experience
In the Entrepreneurship degree programme, we focus on practice – during your studies, you will complete a minimum of 720 hours of student internship, which allows you to gain real experience in business and administration.
Internship begins in the 4th semester (180 hours), and you will complete the most hours in the 6th semester, as many as 360. You can also count professional work or running your own business as an internship, provided it meets the programme requirements.
Students most frequently complete their internship in government offices, accounting firms, tax advisor offices, as well as companies and associations – essentially where real business takes place.
Thanks to the internship, you will understand how an enterprise functions, learn to make decisions, and gain a competitive edge in the labour market.
Cooperation
During your studies, you can take advantage of the Erasmus+ programme. You can go on a foreign internship to 31 countries. You can also study for part of a semester at a partner university. The universities are located, among others, in: Croatia, Czechia, Estonia, Latvia, Greece, Germany, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Turkey, Italy, and Lithuania.
We cooperate with numerous institutions. These include the Katowice Bar Association of Attorneys-at-Law, the Katowice-Zachód District Court, and the Office of the Ombudsperson. We also collaborate with foundations and social organisations such as WATCHDOG and Court Watch Polska, as well as the OFF Camera Film Festival in Kraków.

After graduating from the Entrepreneurship degree programme, you can immediately start working in business or set up your own company. You will learn how to manage an enterprise, plan financial, marketing, and legal activities, as well as make decisions that affect the company’s development.
