Description
French Studies – study the language that opens up the world
Do you want to speak French well and understand the people you work or collaborate with? French Studies is a field that will provide you with specific linguistic and cultural skills. You will gain a language that works in practice — at work, when travelling and in international contacts.
What will you learn?
You will learn to use spoken and written French fluently. You will also learn a second foreign language — English or another Romance language. You will learn how language works: how to construct correct sentences, how to speak clearly, and how to adapt your style to the situation. You will explore the culture, history and literature of French-speaking countries, which will make it easier for you to understand contemporary texts, media and interlocutors from other countries. You will also learn how to avoid cultural misunderstandings and communicate effectively in different environments.
What can you do after graduation?
After completing the French Studies degree programme, you can work in international companies, cultural institutions, the media and publishing houses. You will use the language in office work, communication, education or translation. You can also develop your skills as a French teacher or continue to improve your linguistic and intercultural competences.
