Programme description
Law in Business is a degree programme for graduates of first-cycle studies who wish to deepen their legal and economic competences and prepare to make responsible decisions in a business environment.
The programme focuses on the analysis of complex legal and economic problems faced by enterprises. The studies develop the ability to think strategically, assess risks, and apply regulations in real economic processes.
This degree programme is for individuals who:
- wish to hold managerial or advisory positions,
- plan to develop their own business at a more advanced stage,
- wish to specialise in corporate legal services,
- are interested in compliance, corporate responsibility, and risk management.
During your studies, you will learn how to:
- analyse and minimise legal risks in business operations,
- interpret and apply regulations governing the functioning of enterprises,
- support decision-making processes in a company from a legal and economic perspective,
- combine strategic management with applicable regulations,
- design solutions in line with the principles of responsible business.
Classes are held from Monday to Thursday, giving you the space to gain professional experience, participate in internships, get involved in student research groups, or take up employment while still studying.
The programme prepares you for work in enterprises, legal and compliance departments, consulting firms, and economic institutions. It is also a natural development path for graduates of the Entrepreneurship degree programme and other economic and administrative studies.
Law in Business is a degree programme for those who want to understand the law as a tool supporting the development of entrepreneurship and a modern economy.

ECTS credits: 120
Selected Courses in the Law in Business Degree Programme:
- Economics and Management – you will learn how economics affects your business and how to use it in company management.
- Commercial Law – you will learn commercial law and how to apply it in practice.
- Modern Forms of Management – you will master modern business management.
- HR Management – you will learn how to organise teamwork and support employee development.
- Legal Aspects of Creative Activities – you will learn the legal rules of conducting creative activity, for example in marketing or the music industry.

MAJORS
You do not choose a major in the Law in Business Degree Programme.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
To take the diploma exam, you must:
- achieve all the learning outcomes specified in the curriculum,
- confirm the required knowledge of a foreign language,
- obtain a positive grade for the diploma thesis.
You complete your studies when you pass the diploma examination with at least a satisfactory result. Upon graduation, you will receive a higher education diploma, which confirms your qualifications.

Admission
Admission to studies at the University of Silesia is conducted via the IRK system: irk.us.edu.pl.
In the IRK system, you will enrol for studies and check all necessary information. You will find out what the admission process looks like, what the deadlines are, how much the application fee is and what documents you need to submit.

Admission Requirements
You can enrol for second-cycle studies after completing at least a Bachelor’s degree (first-cycle studies) in any degree programme. Register in the IRK system and submit all required documents.
If you hold a diploma in such degree programmes as Entrepreneurship, Law or Administration, the grade average of your completed studies will be multiplied by 2.
Point thresholds
In accordance with the admission criteria, no programme at the University of Silesia has got a predetermined point threshold.
Committees create ranking lists during the admission process. Admission thresholds change every year because they depend on the number of candidates, their Matura exam results and the applicable admission rules.
Additional criteria
You do not need to meet any additional criteria to begin studies in this degree programme.
Internships and Work Experience
You need to complete neither traineeship nor internship in the Law in Business degree programme.
Cooperation
During your studies, you can take advantage of the Erasmus+ programme. You can go on a foreign internship to 31 countries. You can also study for part of a semester at a partner university. The universities are located, among others, in: Croatia, Czechia, Estonia, Latvia, Greece, Germany, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Turkey, Italy, and Lithuania.

Upon completing the degree programme, you can:
- run your own company or startup,
- manage projects and teams,
- hold middle or senior management positions,
- work in legal and financial departments of companies,
- advise in the field of economic, finance, labour and insurance law,
- negotiate contracts,
- analyse the market and forecast the effects of economic, social, and political changes on the company’s operations.
Graduate Knowledge
Upon completing the Law in Business degree programme:
- you have knowledge of law and economics which allows you to run your own company or work as a senior manager,
- you learn to set up, run, and develop various types of enterprises,
- you learn the principles of protecting and managing intellectual property, e.g. patents and copyrights,
- you manage company finances and use modern financial tools,
- you apply labour law and the principles of social insurance in business practice,
- you function in an international economic environment,
- you follow the principles of ethics and moral standards in business,
- you use various scientific methods and knowledge from other fields to solve practical problems.
Graduate Skills
After your studies:
- you communicate clearly and comprehensibly in a foreign language (B2+), using specialised terminology in the field of law in business,
- you forecast and interpret social, political, economic and cultural phenomena related to business activity,
- you have the ability to assess events and their consequences in the context of business activity, taking into account the principles of logic and market analysis,
- you can find the appropriate legal regulation, interpret the provisions and draw conclusions as to permissible or required conduct in the changing socio-economic context,
- you can find individual decisions relating to the actual state of affairs (e.g. judgments, decisions), assess their usefulness for resolving a given case and, on this basis, predict possible solutions, as well as propose your own,
- you freely use instruments taken from various fields of law and economics, also in situations requiring the use of interdisciplinary knowledge and a changing socio-economic context,
- you can make decisions, justify them convincingly and defend your positions,
- you can lead the work of a team and interact with others by taking a leading role within the teamwork and also develop correct patterns in the field of team management, business relations and about other participants of social life,
- you have advanced skills to set scientific questions and analyse problems or solve problems practically based on the course content, experience and skills gained in a particular field of science unrelated to the leading discipline of the study programme
