Studying at Polish universities
Are you wondering how studying at Polish universities is organised? It’s very simple! Importantly, there are no age limits in Poland. Regardless of your age, as long as you have the appropriate education from your home country, the doors of our University are open to you.
The Polish higher education system is divided into three main paths:
1st cycle studies (Bachelor’s degree or Engineer's degree)
This is your first step into the academic world.
The duration of each type of these studies is as follows:
Bachelor’s degree: 3 years. Upon completion, you receive the title of a Bachelor.
- Engineer’s degree: 3.5 years (mainly in technical and exact science degree programmes). Upon completion, you receive the title of an Engineer.
What do you need to get started?
You must hold a certificate of secondary education (equivalent to the Polish Matura exam), which entitles you to enter higher education in your country.
2nd cycle studies (Master’s degree)
This is a continuation of studies for those who already have a 1st cycle studies diploma.
- 2nd cycle studies (also referred to as postgraduate studies) following Bachelor’s degree programmes last 2 years. Upon completion, you receive a Master’s degree.
2nd cycle studies (also referred to as postgraduate studies) following Engineer’s degree programmes last 1.5 years. Upon completion, you receive a Master of Engineering degree.
What do you need to get started?
You must hold a 1st cycle or 2nd cycle diploma (with a supplement/list of grades), which in your country entitles you to pursue a Master’s degree.
Long-cycle studies (specific to the Polish system)
This is a unique type of degree programme that is not divided into two stages. These studies last for five consecutive years and immediately lead to a Master’s degree. The admission requirements are exactly the same as for 1st cycle studies (a certificate of secondary education is sufficient).
